What HandsOnward is — and isn't

HandsOnward gives you an estimate, based on documented occupation requirements, your experience, and public O*NET data, of how your current skills, education, and experience compare to a target occupation, along with a roadmap and course suggestions to help close the gap.

Match scores, roadmaps, and skill-gap analysis are generated by a combination of deterministic scoring against public occupation data and AI-assisted resume parsing — not a human reviewing your specific situation. See how this works for the details.

Your match score, roadmap, and any suggestions are informational guidance only. They are not a guarantee of employment, promotion, salary, education, certification, or any other outcome. HandsOnward does not place you in jobs and is not a recruiter, career counselor, employment agency, or educational institution.

Your account

• You must be at least 16 years old to use HandsOnward.
• You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity on your account.
• The information you provide (profile details, resume content) should be accurate to the best of your knowledge.

Billing and subscriptions

• Free is available with no payment required.
• Pro is a paid subscription billed monthly at the price shown on the Pricing page, charged automatically to your payment method each billing period until you cancel.
• Cancel anytime from Settings → Manage subscription, which opens a secure Stripe-hosted portal — no need to contact us.
• Canceling stops future billing but doesn't refund the current period: you keep Pro access through the end of the period you've already paid for, then your account reverts to Free.
• We don't offer refunds for partial billing periods.
• If a payment fails, Stripe will attempt to retry it. If it can't be collected, your account reverts to Free until a working payment method is added — your data and Free-tier access aren't affected.
• HandsOnward currently offers a single paid plan. If we introduce additional plans, this section will be updated to describe how to move between them.

Your content

You own the resume and profile information you upload or enter. By using HandsOnward, you give us permission to process it — including sending resume text to a third-party AI provider for parsing — solely to provide the features you're using. We don't use your resume content to train AI models or share it for any purpose beyond running the product for you.

Acceptable use

Please don't:

• Attempt to bypass rate limits, scrape the service, or access another user's data.
• Upload content that isn't actually your own resume or profile information.
• Use the service for anything unlawful or to harass or harm others.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this. You can delete your own account at any time from your profile page.

Intellectual property

The HandsOnward name, logo, design, and underlying software are owned by HandsOnward. Using the service doesn't give you any rights to our branding, code, or content beyond what's needed to use the product as intended. Occupation and skill data itself comes from O*NET (U.S. Department of Labor) under its CC BY 4.0 license — see data sources for details.

Third-party links and resources

Learning resources and course links point to third-party providers we don't control. Listing a course isn't an endorsement of, or partnership with, that provider, and we aren't responsible for their pricing, availability, or content.

Warranty disclaimer

HandsOnward is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that its results (including match scores, roadmaps, and skill-gap analysis) will be accurate or complete. You use HandsOnward at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HandsOnward and its operator won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of income, profits, or opportunity, arising from your use of — or inability to use — the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you actually paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $100 if you haven't paid us anything. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify HandsOnward and its operator against any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the service, your violation of these terms, or content you submit that infringes someone else's rights or violates the law.

Disputes

If a problem comes up, contact us first at the email below — most issues can be resolved directly without any formal process.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Montana, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that isn't resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Montana, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

General

• Severability — if any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
• No waiver — not enforcing a provision one time doesn't waive our right to enforce it later.
• Assignment — we may assign these terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. You may not assign your account or these terms to anyone else.
• Force majeure — neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events outside their reasonable control (outages at a provider we depend on, natural disasters, and similar).
• Entire agreement — these terms, along with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and HandsOnward regarding the service.

Changes

We may update these terms as the product changes. We'll update the date above when that happens, and material changes will be flagged rather than made silently.
